Another Friday feature is here and I have a favourite of mine. Instagram @woodyandflorence. Chloe has a beautiful homely feel about her feed. She has a huge creative flare which shines through her pictures.
All of her makes are available through her instagram page or her Etsy store here. From Prints to Pillowcases, you will find something that will look great in any home! Chloe is a real inspiration to me especially.
So here goes, I’m Chloe, 31 and come from the West Midlands. I’m a hippie at heart, love travelling and want lots more tattoos. If you’d have asked me a year ago to say a bit about myself I would have told you I’m owner, designer and maker at Woody and Florence plus a few other bits and bobs in my life but now the first thing I say is, I’m a Mama to my boy, Bodhi. He’s not only my world, he’s my universe (not forgetting daddy he’s the stars in our sky).
Bodhi was born beginning of March this year, he’s changed my life, my view on life and what I used to think was important. I simply love being his Mama, nurturing his beautiful and contented soul and watching him grow into a beautiful little human.
As well as being a Mama and running Woody and Florence, when I’m not on maternity leave I work for Women’s Aid supporting women who are high risk victims of domestic abuse.
What made you start selling handmade items?
I inherited my beautiful Nan’s sewing machine which sat looking at me begging to be used for a while, one day I plucked up the courage to have a go and loved it. Youtube tutorials are the best thing ever. I started practising a lot, making little gifts for friends and family and decided to put some of them on Instagram, Woody and Florence was born and I’ve never looked back.
What is a regular day like for you?
A regular day for me consists of feeding, changing nappies, staring at the perfect little human we created ( I seem to spend a lot of time doing that!) lots of Instagram and Pinterest whilst feeding and then catching up on orders for W&F. If my other half and I are lucky we may get the odd hour to catch up.
Do you have any favourite shops or online stores at the moment?
This is a hard one, there are so many amazing stores I’ve found through Instagram I wouldn’t know where to start. Bit of a cop-out really.
How do you like to relax?
A bath. I love water, especially the sea.
Bath time for me consists of some music (Ray Lamontagne, Norah Jones etc) a magazine, usually a trashy gossip mag and the door closed. Perfect. But I’m sure enough soon my bath time will be gate crashed by the little love in my life. I can’t wait.
Who or what inspires you most?
I struggled to answer this question as I don’t know where to begin. I mentioned how things had changed now I am a Mama, well so has what inspires me. I would say I was more materialistic before I had my Son. W&F allowed me to design and make items I’d want to buy but at a lower cost resulting in me making a little money to buy other things (mostly clothes, shoes and tattoos), so I was inspired by the more ‘successful’ businesses out there but now it’s more about teaching my Son about creativity, having the courage to try new ideas and the freedom to express yourself, all without judgement. The handfuls of other Mama’s out there doing the same, they inspire me.
What’s in your handbag?
Most of the time I just chuck my purse in the change bag but I recently had a beautiful leather bag for my birthday so…..perfume, purse, phone, anti bac hand gel (having a newborn made me very aware of germs….toilet door handles. YUK) a little make up bag with mascara, face powder and lippy, a pen and my diary. Jeez that’s boring hey!
Do you have a favourite place to eat?
In bed! I love curling up with our boy (usually feeding) and my other half eating some nibbles and watching a film. If it had to be a restaurant, we used to live in Northampton and I loved a place called Stuffed Olive…..delicious steak.
What’s the last thing you purchased?
Some black Arizona Birkenstocks. Feet heaven I love them. My inner hippie loves them.
What is your proudest achievement?
Growing and carrying our Son for 9 months, the 15+ hour labour (10lb 4oz ouch) and now watching him grow and learn thinking, wow we did that!! We did good!!
Head over and check out Woody and Florence on Instagram!
