Friday feature – Instagram

Wow today has been a busy one! Not forgetting todays feature though, Instagram

Flora, the creator of the ever so fabulous online store Violet and Percy has a huge selection of homewares, stationary and gifts. She started her little adventure back in October 2013, it has grown beautifully and is one of my faves.

As you will see Flora has a great sense of style, influenced by British and Scandinavian design.  There is something for everyone in her store, that’s what I love about it. The simple, clean, sharp look of the website is very appealing and super easy to navigate and find exactly what you are looking for, and more!!

Flora has a personal page on Instagram too. You’ll find the gorgeous Flora herself with her family, their adventures out and her beautifully styled home. The effortlessly simple snaps of her day-to-day life are lovely to see in my feed. Flora gives me great inspiration and makes dressing your home look easy!

Do pop over to Violet and Percy to find yourself something nice!

Flora lives in Cheltenham with her husband, Daughter Ruby (16), Son Stan (13) and Gertie the dog – she’s nine!

What made you start-up a shop?

I’d been thinking about starting up a shop for a while but having been pretty much a stay at home mum, it wasn’t until Stan started secondary school that I felt that the time was right and that I had enough time to dedicate to it.
It’s the perfect fit for me – I love buying things, taking photos, marketing and writing so I’m happy!

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Ooh, that’s hard – it depends on the day! Inquisitive, honest, fun (well, I think so anyway).

Do you have a favourite flower?

Tulips, definitely. A sign of spring and the promise that sunnier days are on their way.

Where did you last go away?

We went to Lanzarote in February for a bit of winter sun – well, that was the idea anyway. Instead we had freakishly cold, windy days and I spent the week under a towel on a lounger, trying to avoid parasols blowing around the pool!
I’m hoping California next month will be a bit warmer…

How do you like to relax?

I’m a real sun-worshipping beach bum so it has to be on a beach with a book. I grew up in Devon so I miss being by the sea like mad.

What is in your handbag?

Almonds for snacking, Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream, wet wipes (old habits die-hard) and a pack of cards.

Where is your favourite place to eat?

My mum’s house. I don’t go home often enough but when I do, I regress and become a lounging, indulged teenager again. It’s bliss!IMG_9424What is a regular day like for you?

Get the kids off to school, walk Gertie (maybe with a friend), make a coffee and get my orders printed off and packed up, do some exercise (Davina at the moment), lunch, post office run, then emails, ordering, accounts until the kids come home. Pretty much from when I get up to when I go to bed I am promoting Violet and Percy on social media – I’ve just got back into Pinterest so that’s my favourite at the moment.

Who or what inspires you most?

It’s a bit cheesy but probably my husband – he has built his own business from scratch and has always maintained his integrity and professionalism throughout even the most trying times. He’s the best dad too!

Do you have a favourite instagrammer or shop at the moment?

Oh, where to start! I have a lot of proper friends that I have made on instagram so they of course are all favourites of mine but if I had to pick just one, it would have to be @oliviathebaut – she’s so talented (there are a lot of beach shots in her feed which, of course, I love!).
