A late feature this week….. work, half term and not enough days in the week mean I have hardly been able to blog much at all. I really need to get back on the wagon. Hope you don’t all leave me just yet!!
Todays feature is from Instagrams finest print maker @yourtype. Kate is a mother of 2 daughters, Bettie 4 and Agna 3 months. Offering beautifully designed prints for your home, Kate has become increasingly popular over social media with her contemporary designs.
Heres what Kate has to say…..
Whats a regular day like for you?
Well a regular day for me consists of waking up at 6.30am to get my 4-year-old daughter up and ready for school, making up pack lunches, nursing my new-born Agna then the mad rush that is the school run.
Then straight home to email, invoices, styling a picture to feature on my IG feed and depending what day it is I pack orders to be taken to the post office and fitting in more feeds with Agna so it’s always a busy day no matter what so I’ve learnt to multi task very quickly lol!! Didn’t realize my life would be so busy but wouldn’t want it any other way. I see myself as very lucky as having my own business I get see my daughters grow up. I have to pinch myself sometimes at how good I’ve got it. I try not to take it for granted. I’ve learnt that I have to be super organized with my home life as it can get busy (she says whilst typing this and bouncing Agna in her bouncer with her foot 😂)
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
I would describe myself as a Worrier, a Perfectionist and Caring
What are your favourite flowers?
My favourite flowers are ranunculus and anemones I think they are beautiful.
Who or what inspires you most?
People who have their own ideas with creativity. Also successful mummies that have their own businesses as it’s very hard juggling work and family life. People who are battling with life every day for what ever reason as life can be so unfair sometimes.
Where did you last go away?
In April we managed to go away to south of France as we wanted to get away just the 3 of us before Agna came along in July.
How do you relax?
I like to relax with a good magazine not that I get much time to even shower at the mo 😂 or I do like a good browse online at things to purchase.
What is your favourite thing to do as a family?
Some weekends as a family we like to go out for a bite to eat and after we like to have a walk a long the beach what ever the weather whilst Bettie plays in the sand or we like a snuggle on the sofa watching a film together.
Whats in your handbag?
Purse, Phone, Keys, Diary, Make up bag, paracetamol, Sunglasses and a baby muslin of course.
What made you start selling prints?
Well our eldest daughter was going to be starting pre-school so that freed up some time for me so I needed a job but I’ve never been keen on working for people. I’ve been self-employed for sometime now as by trade I’m a hairdresser but also worked as a stylist assistant but I’ve always loved interior design and I designed a couple of prints for our home and sent them as gifts for weddings and birthday presents etc and friends and friends of their friends were interested in them so we went from there really.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Well I would eventually like a website but at the mo it wouldn’t change anything as we would still need to be contacted through email for information on designs for our bespoke prints so we’re happy with the way the process is going so far.
Also would love to broaden our business with offering different unique small homeware brands to sell from our own studio so I’m hoping this will be achieved with in the next 5 years.
What is your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievement is having our 2 gorgeous girls as being a mother is probably the hardest job I will ever do but so worth it in the end! But our proudest achievement with YOURTYPE is our prints being sold in 6 amazing stores.
Never thought I would be selling my own designs to people it means so much that people like my work that they want to display them on their walls. I love my job.
I think you will agree that Kate is such an inspiring mama, i know when i read interviews like this it makes me pull my finger out and really turn my dreams into a reality!
